As some of you know, I am a cancer survivor and through the last months, God has spoken to me so clearly and in such marvelous ways...After receiving such devastating news I felt God's presence in the peace He is giving me since the first day. One afternoon I was looking for something to read and I picked up a book, as I was flipping the pages a 3 x 5 card fell off onto the floor. I picked it up, not paying much attention to it and continued checking the book out. After a while I looked at the card and noticed something written on it. It was my own handwriting, however I don't remember when i wrote it or when I put this card in this book. This is what it said: Genesis 15:1 Do not be afraid Yanira, I am your shield, your very great reward. Deuteronomy 31:6 Be strong and courageous, do not be afraid or terrified for the Lord your God is with you. He will not fail you. He will never leave you or forsake you. Isaiah 41:13 I am the Lord your God who holds your right hand and says to you: do not fear I will help you. This is amazing I thought. I wasa so excited I told Mike "Honey this is God talking to me! Some time later, my Oncologist suggested that I should participate in a clinical trial, but when I read all the possible side effects of this medication under study, I did not want to do it because of the very severe side effects.

| Tommy Ferrell | Over the past several months several friends have encouraged me to enlarge my ministry by blogging or through twitter. I began to feel that God was leading me to use Twitter to communicate with and reach out to more people. Becaue I am generally technology resistent and perhaps a little selfish with my time and privacy, I was initially resistent to the idea. I also had to get a new cell phone that was more texting friendly. After making the investment, I feel excited about seeing how God will use this medium (tweeting and maybe blogging later) to help our church grow and reach out to more people! |
| Jay Kress | I have learned that you cannot just sit in a pew on Sunday mornings week after week, absorbing all the good stuff, and leaving it all behind until Sunday rolls around again. WE ARE THE CHURCH! Our Christianity is not defined by how many services or prayer meetings we attend or even how much money we give, but by the lives we touch by being "Jesus with skin on" to the world where we live on a daily basis. Sometimes, in fact, many times, God calls us out of our "comfort zone" and requires that we go places and do things that we are uncomfortable with. We need to stop viewing our service to God inwardly in terms of what WE are getting out of it and turn our focus outward, to the lives being touched. As far as a ministry I feel called to, I would like to see how many folks at Briarlake ride motorcycles and that would be interested in forming a Christian group that helps troubled youth in the community and those who are being held in local youth detention centers. I have been involved with this type of organization in the past and we have been successful, through God's grace, in making a positive difference in some of these young folks lives. |
| Lee Lester | Over the past few years, God has been moving my wife and I towards being in his service full time. For me, it has been a major change. No longer focused on chasing dollars, I am focused on serving others. God has opened several doors in the last two years that lead us to start an addiction recovery mission on a farm in |
| Anonymous | I feel God tugging at my heart daily, and the more I read my Bible and have God's precepts impressed onto my heart, the better I become at listening and obeying God.God has led me far away from my birth place, so daily I am faced with a deep longing for my family, and all things familiar. This experience, with God's help has taught me to take nothing in life for granted, not the life I had and miss, and not the life I have and live. "Lose no time worrying or dwelling on days past", I am gently disciplined each day that I live. Some days these words sit well with me, and other days it is the biggest challenge, but nevertheless God has planted His seed of faith in my heart, and he comes and tends and nurtures it daily with His word, life's experiences, and with friends and family, so in faith, love, and obedience, God gives me the courage to live this new life. God Bless All |
